The annual accountability report cards have been released by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.  The scores received by the Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District are:

  • Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton Elementary School:   74.6 – Exceeding Expectations
  • Brookwood Jr. & Sr. High School:  67.5 – Meeting Expectations
  • Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District:  71.3 – Meeting Expectations

I want to thank the entire staff here at the Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District for the daily commitment and effort in educating the district’s students.  I also want to thank the parents who work with their children at home to extend the child’s education.  We are all a team.  The staff here at the Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District will continue to strive to improve the academic achievement of our students and improve the accountability test scores of the school district.  The accountability scores can be found on the school district’s web-site under “District Notices”.  The accountability report cards for all schools and school districts in the state can be found on the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction web-site.

The NOW School District has been busy writing grants this fall.  The District has been successful in writing a TEACH grant.  In cooperation with the Hillsboro and Kickapoo School Districts the teaching staff at Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District will have numerous opportunities to improve their use of instructional technology in the classroom.  The combined grant between the three schools comes to $22,500.

The Norwalk-Ontario-Wilton School District also qualified for $12,465 for the Title VI(B) Grant.  This money will be utilized for additional instructional resources in the teaching of elementary math.  The rest will be used to upgrade and add to the elementary school’s number of classroom i-Pads.

Finally, I just completed and submitted a grant to the National Clean Diesel Rebate program sponsored by the Environmental Protection Agency.  If the Norwalk-Ontario- Wilton’s application is accepted, the District would be awarded $20,000 off the purchase of a new school bus.  I will keep you posted on the outcome of this grant application.

School dismisses for Winter Break at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, December 22, and resumes on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.  Over break there will be minimal, if any clerical or administration working during the week of December 25.  Please call ahead so you do not waste a trip to school if you need to speak with someone.  With Christmas coming up, I want to take this opportunity to wish you all a very safe and enjoyable holiday season.  My best wishes on having wonderful times with families and friends.
